Brandt Snedeker went into last weeks tournament at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am off the back of a disappointing 18-month run which has seen him fall out of the top 50 and out of contention for a place at the Masters in Augusta this year. A solid final round of 67 yesterday saw him dismiss any criticism and win with a comfortable three shot victory.
Snedeker has some good form at Pebble Beach and one memorable tournament was his victory here in the 2013 AT&T Pro-Am. The American went into the turn with an exemplary 33 which saw him birdie the third and the fifth before hitting a beautiful shot into the Par 3 Seventh to two foot and then converting for yet another birdie.
Two more birdies on the back nine saw him keep a safe distance from the rest of the pack and cruise to victory. The American managed to play the 72-hole competition with just a single bogey.
Nick Watney claimed second place and strong finishes by Dustin Johnson and Jason Day saw them obtain third place respectively.
Snedeker was extremely emotional after securing his place in this years Masters and had a lot to say in his Interview after.
“I’m emotional right now, it’s been a long time since I felt this feeling and it’s really special. It was a great day, I didn’t play perfectly, but I fought really well and I’m just so thankful that this week is over now. It was stressful.”
Snedeker dedicated his victory to his wife who in his words has been very instrumental in his game this year. “Probably the only time I’ve cried walking off 18th green was this week, because everything I’ve done the past year-and-a-half I’ve put my wife through. When you’re not playing good, the home life is not always great because you take it out somewhere and she’s been a huge supporter of everything I’ve been doing.”
