For the next three weeks the European Tour will be situated at the heart of the Middle East and will kick off with the well renowned Abu Dhabi Championship which is being staged for its ninth year..The Abu Dhabi Championship has become a well established tournament and a favourite for all the players on both the European and PGA Tour and this year is no different. The star-studded field will include the likes of five time major winner Phil Mickelson, former world number 1 Rory Mcilroy, another former world number in Englishman Luke Donald and reigning champion Jamie Donaldson. It of course has the 2013’s main man Henrik Stenson who became the first golfer to win both the FedEx cup and Race to Dubai in the same calender year and he is already ninth in this seasons race to Dubai.
Rory Mcilroy has made the Abu Dhabi Championship his debut tournament every year since 2008 and has always started his season on good form. The last two years he has come runner-up in the tournament and is this year’s favourite at 6/1.
Next in line is the super swede Henrik Stenson who is well accomplished the middle east after winning the Dubai Desert Classic, the Qatar Masters and November’s DP World Tour Championship. Along with some runner-up and top ten positions in the past. Stenson is the second favourite at 8/1.
