Louis Oosthuizen kick started his 2014 season with a win in the Volvo Golf Championship in Durban. The South African had an injury filled season last year, however the lack of golf didn’t hinder his play on the weekend and some wonderful iron play saw him win the tournament for a second successive year. Oosthuizen birdied the last two holes to card a 68 in the final round to win the tournament by one shot ahead of fellow countryman Brendan Grace on 12 under par.
Oosthuizen moved to 10 under par halfway through the round but dropped a shot on the 10th which saw him slip back one place behind Grace who was sitting comfortably on 10 under. But birdies on the 13th and 14th saw him move into first place on 11 under par. This lead was short-lived as Oosthuizen bogeyed the 16th and with Grace holing a 35 foot putt on the 16th, the pair were tied on 10 under par going into the final two holes where Oosthuizen showed his quality to birdie both holes and win.
The overnight leader Tommy Fleetwood finished his final round with a level par 72 to tie third alongside Dutchman Joost Luiten on 10 under par. Fleetwood started the day on 10 under par, one shot ahead of the trailing pack and with a birdie at the second hole his lead was extended. However, as the day progressed he began to slip away with bogeys on the 5th, 7th and 9th.
