Henrik Stenson has topped off his incredible year by being awarded yet another title after a selection panel voted him the European Tour’s Golfer of the year. The Swedish master-class has won many money list titles in both the European and PGA tour’s but has also finished in high positions in both the British open and PGA championship.
Stenson’s season saw him start from the bottom and slowly but surely make his way to the top. At the start of the year he was ranked outside the top 50 and by claiming both the FedEx cup and Race to Dubai titles he has smashed his way through the rankings and is sitting comfortably in third place behind Adam Scott and Tiger Woods.
It took a runner-up spot in Houston for him to even break into the field for the Masters and within a few months he is now dominating the sport and even putting Woods and Scott under some pressure to match his quality. His win in September ant the Tour Championship saw him win the £6.3m prize money for the FedEx cup. Stenson capped off his European season with an outstanding 64 in Dubai to make him the first player in golfing history to win the top bonus money on both the European and PGA Tour’s.
