A week on thursday is the date to keep in your diary’s as the US open comes to the Merion in Pennsylvania where all the big guns will be out in force to become the 113th winner of the major. Since 1895, the U.S. Open has been a democratic championship, offering entrants an opportunity to play on golf’s biggest stage alongside golf’s biggest names. There are many favourites going into the Open including none other than the world number 1, Tiger Woods and not forgetting the world number 2 Rory Mcilroy. But of course getting into some great form at the moment is Matteo Manassero. As aforementioned he has won the BMW championship in Wentworth and is playing well enough to win his first major, another positive in his play is his confidence and the ability to overcome his nerves when it matters as seen in the play offs at Wentworth.
